Gradle is a build tool primarily used for Java projects. Gradle combines the features of Ant and Maven. Gradle uses Groovy, which is a dynamic, object-oriented programming language for the Java platform to define the project and build scripts. Java is one of the most popular programming languages used to build different kinds of applications and systems. Applications developed in Java are scalable and flexible.
Gradle requires minimum Java SE 8 to be installed. SSH to login as root user on the server and issue the
following command to install the OpenJDK package:
1 2 3 4 5 6 | sudo apt update sudo apt install default-jdk #### # Check #### java -version |
The output should look like :
---

Create a new file named gradle.sh
inside /etc/profile.d
directory :
1 2 3 4 5 6 | sudo nano /etc/profile.d/gradle.sh ## paste the following configuration: /etc/profile.d/gradle.sh export GRADLE_HOME=/opt/gradle/gradle-6.3 export PATH=${GRADLE_HOME}/bin:${PATH} |
Save and close the file. Make the script executable:
1 2 3 | sudo chmod +x /etc/profile.d/gradle.sh # reload the environment source /etc/profile.d/gradle.sh |
To check whether Gradle is installed properly, run the following command:
