Sony A68 is not a DSLR, it is a proprietary type of Sony named DSLT, it is not DSLM or Bridge Camera or Digital Rangefinder. Here is a Practical Sony Alpha A68 Review With 18-135mm Kit Lens. Sony A68 is a DSLT with APS-C Sensor, it outperformed mid segment camera in real from ownership tests. Below $1000 with 18-115mm lens, none can offer so easy focus, easy options to buy Sony accessories. It is practical to compare Sony A68 with Leica M9. Sony definitely has full traditional DSLRs but all of them has full frame sensor. We have a paperback on DSLR Portrait Photography – you can look it on Amazon and read few pages on Google Books. We can not say that do not buy our book, but for Sony A68, reading few things from our Digital Photography section and our future publications will be enough. It is more like Leica M9 – easy. We think you can keep it as base camera and upgrade to Leica Rangefinder later. Leica users are liking Sony’s few models. Sony A68 offers multi metering using artificial intelligence for calculating the exposure.
Sony Alpha A68 Review : It’s a Sony
Everything is proprietary of Sony, including 4D focus. In short, it Built-in Image Stabilization on camera body and Sensor-shift. Number of focus points is 79. Number of cross type focus points is 15. Viewfinder gives 100% coverage. AE bracketing range is ±3 EVs and tons of Sony Mobile like features. It takes just beautiful video – full HD recording and option to store this maximum with XAVC S in 50p and 50M. There is a stereo microphone on the top and an additional microphone input. Connectivity features include a 3.5mm external mic jack, a DC input terminal, a Micro (Type-D) HDMI port, and a Micro USB port which also supports a wired remote. There is no built-in Wi-Fi, but Eye-Fi SD cards are supported. Other specs are more or less same when compared to similar price or higher. Sony’s these models use A Mount Lens of old Minolta. With Sony Alpha 68, you can select the focus point using the clickable rotary knob on the back. The display on the back is much smaller than expected and sadly angle dependent. Fortunately enough, there is the electronic viewfinder. Keeping eyes on viewfinder tells about the display.
Sony Alpha A68 Review : Drawbacks
- Display is actually a crap compared to Sony’s other products. Sony has separate displays as extra accessories.
- No WLAN.
- No GPS
- No touchscreen
Sony Alpha A68 Review : Comparison With Nikon, Canon
SLR cameras from Nikon and Canon are not good. Major difference between the a Nikon or Canon is the function of the mirror, which is also the difference with a typical DSLM or Digital Rangefinder. Sony uses their SLT technology, Canon and Nikon needs the mirror has to be folded up to expose the sensor but Sony’s sensor does not move. Photography is through it. Total system is assisted by artificial intelligence. At Sony you have an electronic viewfinder and peck on a display whereas with Canon and Nikon you have optical viewfinder, light rays are deflected over a mirror through the lens. Their design does not give 100% coverage of image.
---
Commonly, ordinary reviews never mounted Sony’s other recommended lenses or lenses for Leica Rangefinder. Nikon and Canon users accuse Sony A68 for noise. Noise will get near vanished with Sony’s Macro and other digitally supported lenses. With APS-C sensor at that price it is not practical to go too much.
Sony Alpha A68 Review : Unbeatable Ease of Use
A new user only need to know how to select camera mobile like menu to bring Macro, Portrait, Landscape modes, then disable flash, activate or deactivate manual focus or auto focus from lens, change the focal length by rotating ring and fine tune the focus by rotating ring, finally press shutter. Video recording is also easy. One button starts video recording and same button stops it. It is very easy to use image RAW with a Mac. Sony has all the accessories :

How is Sony DT 18-135 Kit Lens?
Beautiful. Creates beautiful round bokeh. If you force too much, bokeh will be octagonal. Kit lens is far better in terms of quality than supplied with Nikon, Canon.
