XenForo Mandrill SMTP Settings (Cloud Transactional Email)

XenForo Mandrill SMTP Settings : Have You Understood it Rightly?

We use formerly named Gmail for Domains as the main Email service provider. Mandrill is used for transactional email service for some of the few of our domain named emails. Both these Gmail & Mandrill settings are configured from a cloud DNS provider, which is HP Cloud DNS in our case at this moment. Without this configuration, it is not possible to both, receive and send emails with the same email address.

We do not have postfix like software package installed and/or configured on the server for handing mails – that work is done by Mandrill. WordPress and XenForo are installed on separate directories.

XenForo Mandrill SMTP Settings (Cloud Transactional Email)

First, install XenForo properly after placing the order and following the guide written in XenForo. You will get both community support and personalized support for XenForo. After rightly installing XenForo, go to Home > Options > Email Setup in XenForo Admin panel. Now, configure in the way we are writing :

Default Email Address : Provide the email address, which one is configured with Mandrill

Contact Email Address : Provide the email address, which one is configured with Mandrill

Sender info in From header on contact emails : [Make it Active – Ticked]

Default Email Sender Name : Name of Your Choice

Email Transport Method

SMTP [Make it Active]

smtp.mandrillapp.com : 587

Authentication:

User Name and Password [Make it Active]

[Provide the email address, which one is configured with Mandrill as username] [password is set at ManDrill]

Encryption:

None [Make it Active]

Note : None encryption is for SSL, HSTS, non-SSL – all type of domains.

Bounced Email Address : [Provide the email address, which one is configured with Mandrill]

Enable variable bounced email address values [Make it Active]

Include full message text in watched thread/forum notification emails. [Make it Active]

Include full message text personal conversation notification emails. [Make it Active]

Only send watched content alerts/emails to users active in last X days. [Make it Active]

DO NOT touch the “Automated Bounced Email Handler” option, it must not be selected/inactive. Register with your some other email, if your registration to forum settings is correct, you’ll receive the email notification.
