Samsung Galaxy A54 is a midrange smartphone from Samsung and a successor of their popular models from the A5x series such as the A50, A50s, and A53. Samsung Galaxy offers another set named Galaxy A73, which is priced closer to Galaxy A54.
Samsung Galaxy S22 and S23 are the base models of Samsung’s popular flagship S series smartphones. The price tag of Galaxy S22 and S23 is almost double the price of Samsung Galaxy A54 and Galaxy S23/S22.
While the top models of the S series such as Galaxy S22 Ultra and S23 Ultra offers a lot of premium features, the base model S22, S23 does not offer so many features.

Galaxy S23/S22 Are Designed as Premium Sets
With Gorilla Glass on the Front and Back, an Aluminum frame make the S series less durable despite having an IP68 rating. What happens with my S22 Ultra and now S23 Ultra will happen to you. You will fear to use the set roughly. A slight carelessness can shutter the set in pieces. After all, they are made of glass. However, the glass back ensures a high-end network connection.
The Galaxy S23 comes with a relatively smaller display, a 6.1-inch FHD AMOLED display, with an adaptive refresh rate (48Hz to 120Hz). The format is very compact and is fairly lightweight. Their screens offer 425 to 500 PPI resolution (the mentioned spec differs in different sources). The Ultra versions have 500 to 514 PPI displays.
These sets do not offer S Pen support.
It supports wireless charging and offers a larger size video recording. Samsung releases monthly updates for the S series models. Usually, some special applications are released from time to time. The Android and OneUI will be upgraded as soon they release.
All the S series smartphones support DeX mode. So, Galaxy S23/S22 are portable computers, even if they are not Ultra models. There is no slot for a 3.5mm jack, there is no support for an external memory card. Of course, the cost of repairing is more. The set is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
Galaxy A54, A74 Are Designed For Regular Usage
The body is made of plastic, which makes them durable than glass, it has a 5000mAh battery, and a bigger display with 403 PPI resolution but the refresh rate of 120Hz is not adaptive (it will drain the battery more). There is a memory card slot. Neither the Galaxy A54 nor the Galaxy A74 has a 3.5mm headphone port. The set is powered by Exynos chipset.
The cost of repairing is lesser. Please note that the displays are larger than S23/S22.
Almost every spec of these sets is 1-2 points lower than models from the S series. That is acceptable since the price tag is adjusted accordingly.
Conclusion
Galaxy A54 and A74 are good for rough handling. In my opinion, the Ultra variants are appropriately priced. You are paying a lot for S23, and S22 but neither getting the camera quality of their Ultra versions nor the S Pen.
I use three years old A50s as well. With ageing, these sets tend to become sluggish, and the camera sometimes hangs. They are neither future-proof nor Samsung updates them every month but it is too practical set. I can not say that my S23 and S22 Ultra are practical sets. I use them for productive purposes at home and home office. If your budget is lesser, go with Galaxy A54. These mid-range sets are highly popular.
