In English Language, we have the highest number of real, helpful articles and Guides on Cloud Computing. Except Rackspace, you will never see us to give much importance to any Cloud Computing Service Provider. For a Client, we needed a Cloud Server, obviously; we were aware about DigitalOcean Cloud, but never considered as Rackspace does the work exactly in the way we want. Amazon, clearly no where in comparison to Rackspace; HP, Dell, Fujitsu – well, they failed to satisfy on test despite being based on OpenStack.
DigitalOcean Cloud Servers : Our Brief Good Impression
Well, it is never possible to compare with Rackspace – they are icon of today’s Cloud Computing. Our major websites will always remain on Rackspace for excellent quality of their high end servers and the support. Practically, we created the account with a kind of sense – “yeah…just waste some time, if it works for the client on his budget”. Impossibly low budget – $5/month per domain. Except Hostgator, Bluehost like B Grade shared servers, it is never possible to provide a managed service. Recently we closed our Rackspace Cloud Sites account – we were very thoughtful to manage client.
It is not really Rackspace-ish; we mean, they have not copied anyone. It does not throw a cPanel, which we hate the most. It has resemblance with Rackspace Deployment part. DigitalOcean control panel does not throw a garbage, complicated UI like Amazon.

DigitalOcean Cloud Servers : Lets SSH
Honestly, our idea about DigitalOcean got changed after doing SSH. Its not as simple as Rackspace – but not as complicated as Amazon. On 512MB server, the networking speed to wget from Hostgator made us astonished – really we are astonished. Just like we write OpenShift, Heroku are good options; DigitalOcean is definitely a good option within budget.
Rackspace definitely will have Grade A services, but honestly; so far the IaaS we have tested, DigitalOcean can be safely placed to second position. At lower budget, we can actually add an instance of DigitalOcean in Rackspace Cloud behind the load balancers. The managed WordPress Services will be very much thoughtful – because combining DigitalOcean Cloud Servers and Rackspace API, Akamai can deliver the best of the best service. Rackspace should not decrease pricing – it can attract the spamming websites, rather they should give importance to quality – some what like Mac Pro.
The screenshot is a realtime screenshot, we are happy to offer our long term customers (our services are on beta test for long 1.7 years – yes, to develop API with limited resource, it will take time). As you can see, this not an affiliate post, no links towards anyone. Google Cloud is a fake cloud plus they clearly steal data, Hostgator, Bluehost like B Grade servers do not have a clean IP – hundreds of link building websites run on them. If you can afford more than free Heroku, Openhift, we think DigitalOcean Cloud Server is a good option.
