Google Tag Manager tags your website for tracking and marketing optimization. You can use for AdWords, Analytics, Floodlight instead of editing all codes. Today, it is important to understand the practical fact – a serious blog website is also a “seller’s website”. If you are using certain services like Google AdSense, quality of the content offered, along with specificity becoming more and more important; using AdWords, Analytics, setting re-marketing strategies – all are becoming quite serious issues. Google Tag Manager is a nice way to manage multiple services to monitor sales, shares, pageviews and manage advertising – typically for “Made for AdSense” websites, these are not important as there is no investment in that sense.
Getting Started with Google Tag Manager
Google Tag Manager has extensive documentation of Google’s official website :

In this brief article, we are talking only about webpages, not mobile apps. Google Tag Manager works for both webpages and Mobile Apps. The Google Tag Manager container snippet is a small piece of JavaScript and non-JavaScript code that you paste into your pages. It enables Tag Manager to fire tags by inserting gtm.js
into the page (or through the use of an iframe when JavaScript isn’t available).

If you are only using Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager will not help you much, but if you are also taking advantage of services like Adwords Remarketing, Doubleclick Floodlight and non-Google offerings, this is an excellent service – normally we use AdWords, Analytics, AdSense from the same Google Account, you will use Google Tag Manager from that Google Account to avoid conflict.
Google Tag Manager for WordPress and Developer’s Resources
Obviously, it is beyond the scope of this article to describe the re-marketing part. You can recall our old guide on Outgoing Link Tracking with Google Analytics. Now, is it very easy to manage various tags for each of the services only offered by Google ? Definitely NO. Here is where Google Tag Manager is useful. Please follow the linked guide for adding in WordPress Website.

We do not think, you will require developer level usage for normal works though – the web GUI is more than enough.
