Getting kids into computing can be difficult work for the parents – mastering computing is must today. Making them aware of Privacy and Security is important. I fortunately or unfortunately have NO kid, reason is simple because I am single! The basic reason for writing this one named Getting Kids into Computing is nothing but to suggest a friend. Instead of writing via e-mail, we thought that, it is better to write as a Public post. Indirect fees via AdSense for Free advice plus may be, other parents will get some sort of help from the writing.
There is a big difference in getting your children interested in computer games if they understand the trick, it will rather become a permanent electronic distraction versus a child who himself is interested on the gizmo! So here are a few ideas to engage them with the world of technology in more depth those who already considered a computer as a permanent electronic distraction or may be not at all interested. But, it is obvious that learning computer is must today.
Getting kids into computing : Recall Our Classical Way of Learning
Most of us who are interested in core computing, that simply means it was not mandatory for us to learn the stuffs, obviously started with a black screen. Some had no computer at home at all. Some had less powerful computers – we used to write the codes in paper or notebook. The floppy disks were bigger like DVDs and it was safer to carry them inside a book. So, what we actually got as return from this computing or rather why you will think for getting kids into computing?
- First – we paid no fees for any serious computer course.
- Second – Computing helped to create blog and earn money
- Third – Writing about computing itself on blog made more money
- Forth – Solving someone’s issue free of cost (or for fee) increases the reputation – its quite obvious
- Fifth – An average computer tech support can not rip out money that easily from the owned computers
- Sixth – Advertisement buzz words will not work effectively
- Seventh – Computing is the only practical way for communication, knowing about security, privacy are important points
Most of us started with BASIC, I have born at the end of 1983. There were not much computer and game relationship at that time. It is Steve Jobs who thought to make the computer a bit towards consumer goods. Actually, reading these feels great but I do not want to go to offtopic towards trends of evolution of the Computer. The reason can be brief – I earn more than 4 times than an average Orthopedic Surgeon. My other friends were kids – right? They ignored it, possibly as they found its not interesting or something other. So, learning only computing has increased my ways of earning. This can be the only reason itself to push your kids towards computer. At that age, they will not understand the tougher world, so may be we can apply some uncanny tricks over them !

Getting kids into computing : What About the Educational games
There are some great free online games perfect for laptops or tablet devices, designed to encourage the children to learn computing further. Magic Pen, for example, is a simple game for the home or portable PC or Mac or iOS devices, this basically teaches the children how to design shapes and constructions in order to move a red ball around. It begins to activate curiosity and helps to develop the deductive reasoning skills, reasoning is useful in practical life, in computer programing, in any thing. Contraption is also another game which is intended to show the children how the mechanics of motion work by designing objects to move large blocks.
And, although they may initially spark in an interest in computing, there are other games that actually simulate the basics of computer programming. Light Bot, for example, is a free game that teaches children how to start using functions, by manipulating a robot to move around a grid and collect blocks. There is also a game Greenfoot, which teaches the basics of coding.
Getting kids into computing : Getting kids thinking constructively
If you do want your children to develop an interest into the mechanics instead of computing, then you should be stimulating them way before they get their hands on technology. Construction toys like these are great for child development and sets such as Lego or those that involve basic mechanics begin to instill in children principles of association and how things work together.
That means, depending on the personality of the child, you have to decide whether you need to distract a bit with real life toys (in case the permanent electronic distraction has developed) or you can start with these good computer games. You might also want to review which games are more educative than others. Games involving a character might teach different skills, but games without a constructive element do not introduce the child to the basics of how things work – that is functions and reasoning behind coding. Do not forget a big truth – none of the big persons of computing has / had any degree – be it Steve Jobs or William Henry Gates aka Bill Gates. For Security and Privacy reasons, knowing basic coding is very much important today.
