iPhone and iOS are both designed, developed and marketed by Apple Inc. iOS is mobile version operating system of OS X which is used on Apple computers. Originally iOS was developed for the iPhone, thereafter is being used in devices like the iPod Touch, iPad and Apple TV. Apple, Inc. does not allow the installation of iOS on third-party hardware.
iPhone : The Hardware Part
iPhone is a smartphone series from Apple, which was launched in 2007. So far, six generations of iPhone devices has been on the market, all with a media player and have largely to be controlled via the touchscreen. All iPhone has a multi-touch functionality, thus enabling an user with multiple fingers to draw gesture. In addition, the iPhone is controlled by four buttons and a slide switch. In September 2012, the current version was released, the iPhone 5. By the end of 2012 about 319 million units were sold.
The retina display touch screen of the iPhone 5 has a resolution of 1136×640 pixels with a diagonal of 4 inches ( 16:9 format) size. Which corresponds to a pixel density of 326 pixels per inch (ppi). The device has the Apple A6 – SOC (system-on-chip), which according to Apple is up to twice as much capable for performance than the predecessor. It is the first iPhone, with the mobile standard Long Term Evolution (LTE). The so-called iSight camera (rear camera) has an eight-megapixel sensor and takes full high definition (1080p) video. It also allows to shoot panoramic photos. The FaceTime camera (front camera) has a 1.2-megapixel resolution sensor and can record HD video in 720p quality. In addition, there is a rear illumination sensor. The iPhone 5 is able to take photos during video recording.

All normal advanced features of a MacBook Pro is actually replicated in miniature form. The supplied earphone, EarPods are now semi in the canal. The body is as of Apple’s normal standard as like other computing devices except that iPhone comes in black color too.
iOS : The Software Part
The interface iOS user is based on the concept of direct manipulation, using gestures. The control elements consist of sliders, switches and buttons. The response to user commands is immediate and provides a fluid interface. Interaction with the OS includes gestures such as slips, taps, pinches, which have different definitions depending on the context of the interface. Internal accelerometers are used to make some applications to respond to shaking the device (for example, for the undo command) or rotating it in three dimension.
iOS has four abstraction layers. iOS does not allow Adobe Flash or Java. Steve Jobs wrote an open letter criticizing Flash for being insecure, buggy, consume a lot of battery, be incompatible with multitouch interfaces and interfere with the service App Store . Instead iOS uses HTML5 as an alternative to Flash. This has been a feature widely criticized at the time as well today.
