Red Hat Open Source Database : A Newer Generation ?

Red Hat has announced an initiative aimed at creating a flexible and extended to the Data-as-a-Service, that companies can use to track and analyze published data on the entire web public. The initiative is named LEADS, which stands for Large-scale Elastic Architecture for Data-as-a-Service.

Red Hat Open Source Database : Open Source is Not New for Red Hat

Red Hat is moving towards Open Source Free initiatives as we pointed before in an article on OpenStack. Without the need to maintain own in-premise data within their dedicated data centers, it might be economically a convenient storage option in a shared infrastructure. The primary goal of Large-scale Elastic Architecture for Data-as-a-Service is to create a framework Date-as-a-Service (DaaS) to get decentralized, which will be able to operate on a series of micro-cloud instance. Large-scale Elastic Architecture for Data-as-a-Service will provide the option to collect, store and search the data in a public domain, it will also process this data in real time. Plus, public data can be integrated with private data, it will be maintained by the provider and processing real-time data can be made.

Red Hat Open Source Database :  Importance

The presence of Red Hat in the consortium will help to develop tools, by the project LEADS will have greater visibility in the open source community. In addition, Red Hat plays an important role in defining standards and if conditions permit, will guide the evolution of technologies and specifications of LEADS to recognized standards, in order to avoid any form of vendor lock-in. The results of the open source project LEADS will help to ensure that all standards will be created based on real experiences.

The LEADS platform is designed from the scratch, taking privacy, security, energy efficiency, availability, scalability and performance in mind. There are several open source projects sponsored by Red Hat that can benefit from advances from LEADS.
