Cloud Networks was announced by Rackspace on October 30th, 2012. Cloud Networks allows the user to create multi-tier network, an isolated cloud infrastructure based on OpenStack. Unlike Cloud Block Storage, Cloud Networks was not published (or syndicated !) by so called news type websites, we do not want to comment, may be they found not much data to replicate. We had the to do list for Cloud Networks, today’s newsletter reminded us.
Cloud Networks : How it Works
Rackspace is offering more solutions with an open cloud, we have seen the launch of Cloud Databases, a new Cloud Control Panel Cloud and Block Storage – all made available to all the customers. With the addition of Cloud Networks, Rackspace customers will be able to increase network security for their Cloud Server running application server and database server on an isolated network in order to stop smuggling on their servers.
Combining technology of open source software OpenStack, Rackspace Cloud Networks enables the customers to control the computing resources and storage, as well as gives the ability for creating networks and add resources to secure networks during operation. The ability to build clusters with broadcast and multicast allows a much better scalability and higher availability of the servers (Please search with the terminologies in the search box in this webpage, if you are not aware of).
One of the major benefits of Cloud Networks is that there is no restriction on the remote user’s network, giving the customers the flexibility to design virtual networks that can share an architecture comparable to more traditional network model of layer 2, without restriction of any capacity. Taking that you are using OS X 10.8, its not Mac OS X anymore; you will first need to fix your Bash or tmux like we described before.
I thought to write the initial guide, but I found after 10.8 update, pip is missing too. As I have to install the whole thing, the guide on Cloud Networks will be a video guide.
