If you are a Samsung Galaxy smartphone owner, then it is likely that you are using fewer features than Samsung Gallery App provides. Most of us never read the documentation and directly try to use the app. That solves our basic needs, but often Samsung apps have more features to offer. One of the reasons Samsung smartphone costs more is because of the bundled free apps. In a separate article, we have described why Samsung smartphones are a better choice for any budget.
Half of these tricks will work on any Samsung Galaxy smartphone unless it is more than 4 years old model. The rest half of the tricks are for the flagship models, such as S22 Ultra, Z Flip 4, and Z Fold 4.
Common Tricks for Any Samsung Galaxy Smartphone
I believe that most of you know the first trick. After opening Samsung Gallery App, while you are in the “Pictures” tab, you can pinch in or out to increase or decrease the size of the thumbnails.
---
The second trick is for while you are in the “Albums” tab. Here also you can pinch in or out to increase or decrease the size of the thumbnails. If you tap the menu (three dots) and tap “Hide/Unhide Albums”, this will allow you to hide/unhide the albums which are not from your camera or screenshots. This is a useful feature since most of us hate to see WhatsApp images in our gallery. This is not a security feature.
The third trick is for while you are in the “Stories” tab. Tap the top menu icon (three dots), beside the search icon. Here you can create your own stories. If you tap and go inside any story and tap the top menu icon (three dots), you’ll get an option named “Create a Highlight Reel”. It is great software itself to create a short video in Microsoft Powerpoint style. You can change the duration of the video, add text captions, and add music and videos. This is useful for a bunch of vacation shots, or a birthday.
Next, go to the “Pictures” tab and select multiple images and videos. Tap the bottom menu icon (three dots) and tap the option named “Create”. This is slightly different from the above “Stories”. Select the “Collage” option. This is an advanced piece of software. You can change almost all the parameters such as the type and colour of the border. This is great especially when you have a video.
Next, go to the “Pictures” tab and tap the bottom menu icon (three dots) and tap the option named “Settings”. Scroll down and go to “About Gallery”. Tap version number 7-8 times and it will activate a new menu named “Gallery Labs”. Keep tapping till you see the message “Gallery Labs is enabled”. In the Gallery Labs, you’ll get a lot of customization options unique to each version of One UI.
Next, go to the “Pictures” tab and select multiple similar images, tap the bottom menu icon (three dots) and tap the option named “Tags”. Adding tags will help you quickly search images.
The seventh trick is related to the editor. Next, go to the “Pictures” tab and select one image and click one image. Click the pencil icon to edit it. Tap the top menu icon (three dots) and tap the option named “Spot colour”. This is an option to show selective colours in a photo.
Eight tricks are for the option below it, named “Colour Mix”. This is an option to point to a particular colour and change its hue, saturation etc.
The ninth trick is for pasting a portion of one photo to another. Next, go to the “Pictures” tab and select one image and click one image. Click the pencil icon to edit it. Tap the sticker icon and then tap the Gallery app icon. You can select any photo, cut its part and paste it over the photo you are editing.
Tricks for Samsung Galaxy Flagship Smartphones
You have the most powerful tool – the S Pen. You can take the magic wand out and remote control the Gallery photo browsing. Great, find a photo, zoom in and you’ll notice that an icon will appear at the lower left. This icon is for cropping the photo to set it as your wallpaper.
Next is creating a time-lapse video from a landscape photo. This is selected automatically by the software and some of the images will show up as an icon at the top left. If you have a sunset photo, the system will create a short video from morning to night.
Next is erasing the shadows. Open an image, tap the pencil icon, tap the three dots menu icon and you’ll get the option of an object eraser. Simply tap the option which says “Erase shadows”.
Next is remastering the images. Open an image, tap the three dots menu icon and you’ll get the option of remastering option.
The last trick is for Z fold. When you are running the Gallery app, you can directly drag a few Samsung apps such as Note to create a new note and edit it beside the opened Gallery app.
