What Headphones/Earphones to Use With Samsung S22 Ultra
Purchase Samsung’s USB-C Headset Jack Adapter to use with any 3.5mm earbuds and headphones. At the lower range, boAT has quite good quality wired earbuds. You’ll not get a huge difference with Sony Extra Bass MDR-XB50 in-Ear Earphones or Sennheiser CX 300s. Within a $40 range, you’ll not get true audiophile-grade headphones/earbuds.
Tweaking PowerAmp for Samsung S22 Ultra
Turn off Dolby Atmos. It affects the output. You’ll need to tweak a lot of settings. Samsung claims that S22 Ultra is tuned, but by default the sound output is flat.
Click the equalizer icon. Activate equalizer, tone, and a limit on the first settings page (with a Settings icon), keep the bass around 16%, and Treble at 17%. On the next tab (with a dial icon), set Stereo to expand to 55%, activate Tempo, and set a low value of 1.02. On the third tab, set Damp to 0.22, Filter to 0.15, activate Reverb, and set Mix to 0.48.
The above equalizer settings will deliver a deep bass output.
Now the actual settings of sound quality, processing etc. Go to Settings > Audio > Replay Gain.
Set the Replay Gain to “Apply Gain/prevent clipping…”
Set the RG preamp within 6db to 8db.
Next, set the Preamp for songs without RG info to 0db.
Now, go to Settings > Audio > Resampler.
Set the type to SoX.
Keep the cut-off frequency within 95 to 98%.
Set Dither to None.
Go to Settings > Audio > Direct Volume Control. Disable it.
Go to Settings > Audio > Output.
OpenSL ES based output. Set for Aux, Speaker and USB DAC. 48kHz, Float32 sample format.
Go to Settings > Audio > Output > Hi-Res output. Set the sample rate to a higher value, sample format as Float32.
The above combination should deliver you a better sound quality. Many of the readers complain about the flat sound of the S22 Ultra.
