Android tablets have been around for quite some time, and many people are likely familiar with one or more models. However, with Android 12 now available, it’s time to start thinking about how you might replace your tablet – and Galaxy Z Fold 3 (or Fold 4 in future) might be the answer.
Galaxy Z Fold 3 (and Fold 4 in future) is a new product from Samsung that is designed to be a replacement for Android tablets. The key feature of these tablets is that they can be flipped over so that the screen is facing down – this makes them perfect for use as e-reader devices. In addition to the standard features you would expect on a tablet, such as a camera and a speaker, Galaxy Z Fold 3 also supports S pen which allows you to take notes and annotate documents.
Specification Comparison
Galaxy Z Fold 3 vs. Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra:
---
1. Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra has a bigger screen (14.6 inches).
2. Galaxy Z Fold 3 has a higher DPI display.
3. Galaxy Z Fold 3 has limited storage with no micro SD card slot
4. The battery life of Galaxy Z Fold 3 is lower
5. The design and form factor of Galaxy Z Fold 3 are better than that of Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra
6. Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is equipped with 4 speakers
7. Galaxy Z Fold 3 has better cameras but Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra has centrally placed camera ideal for video calls.
Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra wins if you talk about screen size, battery and speakers.
Productivity Comparison
Galaxy Z Fold 3 is a hybrid tablet that can not replace your Android smartphone because of its weight and thickness. Both of the devices can be attached to a detachable keyboard and a wireless mouse. There are fewer points to say against any of the models.
The productivity of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is incomparable to that of an Android tablet with a physical keyboard for certain works. The flip screen allows you to view documents and pictures in a variety of orientations, which helps draft or work on projects that require multiple views of information. Additionally, the detachable keyboard makes it easy to take the Galaxy Z Fold 3 with you when you leave home for work or school.
But wait, can you perform all the work with a “smaller tablet” which can do with a tablet? The answer is not easy. Unlike iPad (and iOS), Android tablets are not yet optimized for tablets. DeX mode does help but again, DeX supporting app is less in number.
This is unfortunately not making Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra the winner. It is too big in the world of tablets. Often we fall on the couch or bed and work keeping our smartphones over our noses! This way of lazy computing is partially reducing the workload on laptops.
Conclusion
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is an excellent tablet replacement particular for those who need to move from point A to point B regularly. Nothing can fully replace the function of a laptop. The tablets made computing lightweight for certain works. Productivity-focused smartphones such as the discontinued Note series or present S22 Ultra can perform certain works of a tablet. But when it comes to typing (such as a blog post) or video editing, you’ll find that a powerful laptop is more comfortable. Desktop OS offers some convenient right-click features. Both of the devices are great and purchasing both is probably a bad idea. You should choose your device depending on the type of your work.
Tablets are inheritably made for “consumption”. Fold 3 is more limited but it is portable. The form factor makes Fold 3 a winner.
