How To Submit Tax Information In Google Adsense

Google AdSense suddenly showing an option to fill-up tax information. Although this is the first time for Google AdSense, log back I have filled-up such kind of forms for Amazon self-publication service. This guide is most useful for the Indians but the other non-US citizens will get helped too.

If you do not fill-up this form by May 31, 2021, then a huge sum will get deducted from your AdSense earning. Most of the countries of Asia and Europe are tax treaties to the US. A tax treaty is an agreement made by two countries to avoid double taxation. As because we are paying our income tax in our country, we will enjoy a 50% to 100% “discount” in the tax to be paid towards the US Govt. Thankfully, after properly filling up this form, it is a 100% “discount” for AdSense for content. If you are a YouTube creator, you may have to pay up to $24 as tax for every $100 you make.

Now the steps. Login to your Google AdSense account and go to “Payments” (Payments > Settings > Manage Tax Info). Under a content box named “United States tax info”, you’ll find a button with the text “ADD TAX INFO”. Click that button. AdSense web interface will verify your login credential and start a wizard. In my case, the type of account is “Individual”, “Doing Business As” not required to be filled up. I selected the W-8BEN form and clicked to navigate to the next step. In the next part, it will ask for “Foreign TIN”. In the case of India, “Foreign TIN” is our PAN number. Every country has such a number/card for the taxpayers with different names. Then click for the next step. The next part is easy. You will claim as Tax Treaty and check all the sources of earning (such as AdSense/content, Videos etc) and select the article and paragraph from the drop-down option (the drop-downs have a single option hence it is easy to fill-up). After completing this step, move ahead to the next step. Here is a digital affidavit which you should fill-up looking at the graphical representation I have included in this guide.
